bleeding brakes question

Is there any order you have to go in when bleeding your brakes. My friend said you had to go in order. The last time I did it I just did it in a random order.

Do the farthest one from the master cylinder first. Front and back are from different parts of the master cylinder you can do either end first, just start at the farthest away.

Just the front. It's a safety feature in case your brakes fail with front & back split you will only lose half your brakes.
