Rods and Pistons Question!

I'm rebuilding my engine (nitrous backfire) and am replacing the rods and pistons. I'm looking at Eagle but what is the best brand in yalls opinion. Is a stroker kit worth it?

the stock 2v makes a lot of torque, a stroker will just add on top of that. if you are making a street monster, then i would do it. as far as rotating assembly parts go, its personal pereference. eagle is a good product, but its the name more than anything else, just like manley. i like cat and scat rods personally. as for pistons, i like most of whats out on the market.

how does boring our engines compare to stroking them, power wise?

not much hp added with either really, a lot of torque from a stroker. a stock stroke will take to higher and more constant revs longer. the i wouldnt pust a stroker much more than 7k.

not really. the gains from just a bore are minimal, stroking is torque. the rod/piston ratio is not in the strokers favor, that is why really high revs are not suitable for them.

Good questions. The car is my daily driver but will see the track about once a week. What amount of nitrous will be safe with the forged kit?

True but not what I wanted to hear lol. With a good tune and a bigger pump what would I be able to run? NX wet after the forged internals.

entry level kits are rated to around a 150 shot, some 175. wet nozzles are usually rated around 200 if i remember right, and the n/x plate is rated for 300. compression will affect ow nitrous will react on pump gas, not a big deal if you are going to run race fuel or a fuel cell with race fuel. you also have to remember, when running a big shot on a wet system, you have to have the velocity to carry the nitrous/fuel mix. when running a large wet shot, you usually have to have a pretty high rpm to carry enough velocity for large shots.

nitrous can take to higher compression, but you also have to remember the added pressure that nitrous will add when shot. 93 octane can only do so much, the volume of fuel that will needed to be ignited will cause tremendous pressure.

but does it work better with high compression vs the same shot on a lower compression motor

yes, if the motor can hold it and the car can be tuned for it.

example: if motor A is all stock with 9.5:1 compression and a 100 shot and compared to motor B that is the same motor with 10.5 compression and a 100 shot; motor B will make more torque, and will hold the torque and power longer than motor A.

sure, if it can take it and can be tuned to run it. the compression and shot size were just examples. a higher compression motor will always yeild more torque. it can even make more hp compared to a lower compression if tuned. a higher compression motor can make more power as well with the same jetting, just depends all on how everything is set up and tuned.
