probably a sign of warn valve seals, does it smoke on startup then go away... and smoke more the longer it has sat?

Oil smoke after startup from an engine that has been shut off for a while is usually the result of worn valve guides or valve stem seals. When the engine is shut off, the hot oil leaks past the seal or guide and drips down on the piston top. When the engine is started, the oil burns off and creates the smoke for the few seconds of operation

smoke

Smokes at start up and quits after about ten seconds from the tailpipes. Smoke is mostly a grey w/a hint of blue but real suttle.

mine does this too w/80k on the ticker... not much you can do unless you wanna pay for a valve job? im sure you could also do a leakdown test... but this is a common problem not just for mustangs.

No supercharger. Last year of the na. The valves and heads were done 10k ago and the steeda seperator seems to work well. Still get a bit at start up but not anywhere close to what it was.

it's leaking past the valve guides and seals.

Have a 97 Cobra that did the same thing. Shut it off, and some white smoke would breeze out of the tailpipes. I had a problem with the IMRC's the controler decided it didnt want to work anymore. So i also removed IMRC runners and cleaned them up and worked them back and fourth. Havent seen much smoke anymore. My 98 Gt lets out a small amount nothign like the cobra did though. Also have seen Worn valve guides like others have suggested. And the 32v's do have problems with valve's leaking by. had a 91 Gt that did it for a good minute or so, valve seals were pretty bad in it. lol.
