OEM vs Aftermarket body parts....

Not sure if this is the right section if not I apologize...I just got off the phone with the body shop and they said that the insurance company (liberty mutual) will only let them put aftermarket replacement parts on my car. I don't mean that I'm getting a fender with vents in it or a high rise hood. I'm talking about oem look parts by someone who isn't ford. I'm not sure how I feel about this but I'm leaning toward not happy. From what I've read OEM parts tend to be lower quality and in the case of head lights (which I need) may not pass inspection. A friend of mine who does body work in PA told me this...and he wasn't working on my car at the time so I don't see why he'd lie to me.

can I get your thoughts on this? anyone have experience with aftermarket oem look parts. I need a PS fender, PS light and maybe a hood.

They have to let you get OE parts. not "OE quality" parts.
They are just trying to be cheap. stick to your guns.

The shop or the insurance company is trying to be cheap?

it pretty much boils down to this.

the car had factory parts on it.
it crashed.
factory parts should be put on.
