driveshaft..which should i go with?

so im getting a t56 next summer, and the place can either shorten the driveshaft for $200 or i can buy a cobra driveshaft for...$340 + shipping, is it not worth it to buy the cobra one?

I say get the cobra. This way if you ever want to switch back to the factory tranny (ie if youre selling the car) you don't have to buy another driveshaft then.

im not sure, i just saw one on 50resto, thats the only placei can find one, unless...can you get one from Ford directly?

and cutting the driveshaft? you just cut it to the length you need it, and weld it back together, seems pretty decent if its done right. i dunno
ive never had work done at the place im going to, so if anyone knows anything about this place, let me know.

Maximum-Cars.com - 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra Information and High Resolution Images. After double checking says here that Cobra driveshafts are aluminum. May be wrong. Either way, I say buy a cobra driveshaft and sell the old ds and tranny to someone to make some of the money back.

A cut down drive shaft needs to be balanced.

Or if you have the money you could go with a carbon fiber d/s. But you're looking at a grand there.

Correct. Youre not going to be able to just take a drive shaft, chop it to size, reweld it and put it back on the car as it has to be balanced or youll have all sorts of trouble.

Makes sense. Thought you were talking about doing it yourself.
