18 yrs old first GT/manual...help


hey i am new to the 2002 mustangs and maunals and was wonder if you guys could just give me some launching tips and shifting tips. thanks

One very good tip I can give you is to get a short throw shifter.

when you launch it you gota get to the point where you not spining the tires and your not boging out the engine its right in the middle, practice makes perfect. and +1 for the shifter check out the steeda tri-ax and pro 5.0 both are realy good. as far as shifting its not that hard. dont hit the redline when you shift as youl be runing the car through the down slope in the powerdband, and just start kicking gears. youl get the hang of it jsut dont kill yourself, at 18 you prob have more ballz then brainz lol i did

get out somewhere away from everybody like out on a backroad or a street thats near some warehouses or something. one thats pretty long and straight preferably. =)

do any of you guys powershift while racing? I can never get it to go into gear, what rpm do you shift at to do that?

damn good write up, whoever wrote that. thanks for posting that up. I am in the process of having my aod swapped to t5. I know how to do the basics but really dont know how to race a manual...like stated in another thread. Practice makes perfect so i will probably be out all hours of the night working with my kinks.
