whine

ok my car took a crap the other day, it was a clogged fuel filter, but there is this whine, sounds like a supercharger, it only does it at idle. I checked all the plugs because it made a similar noise when my plug blew, but all the plugs are fine. i took a vacuume test and it read 21 IN HG, and it was steady at idle, my PCV is good to go, but it sounds like it is comming from the driver side near the back of the motor. im at a loss. it isnt running any diffrent, any ideas?

all the injectors were cleaned after fuel filter was replaced

engine bay wouldnt be fuel pump... maybe its just the sound of fuel actually getting to the motor i would see if you can hear it around the fuel rails and such (not saying its them) but if it happened after you changed the filter then i would say it has to be something with the fuel system...

mpboy. i had this EXACY SAME problem. turned out to be the front timing cover was cracked where the passenger side idler pulley mounts. check all your pulley mounts for deflection. make sure the pulley doesn't move side to side at all with the belt removed. under belt tension it will "cock" the pulley to the side putting a lot of force on the bearings they were not designed for. 50resto has a brand new one for $198. if its that and you get a new one. paint it or have it polished before you put it back on. I swapped mine in a couple hours. the hardist part is if you take the valve covers all the way off. they are a bitch to put back on. especially of the gaskets don't want to stay in the grove.

it sounds like air escaping somewhere. it keeps going after the car is cutoff, and then dies out after about a sec. I checked the intake manifold, throttle body, all the vacuum hoses. and iv never heard a leaky exhaust do that, but im out of options. the only other thing I can think off is a vacuum hose, cause there can be a pinhole and it will be noisy
