im gonna have 1500 dollars soon and i was wondering what the best thing to do to my car would be i was gonna do heads and cam what you guys think

depedns how fast you can accumlate money. If it takes you 6 months to make another 2 thousand i save save for a blower, and then add stuff later to support it. Other wise if ur liek me and i takes a year to have an exrta couple of dollars, i would get headers, off road h or x, and a cat back. (i cant get lts or off road h caus ei dnt feel like bribing a guy once a year to let me pass insepction) this way ull sound awesome. Im pretty sure u need gears for any cams that are worth getting but dnt quote me on that one.

If it were me I would get all the bolt ons that you need for a blower, and then when you get one your torque and horsepower will just skyrocket. Like 75mm tb and plenum, headers, midpipe, and catback, gears and a tuner. and obviously if you have money left over, heads and cams. Cuz then you'll have an awesome free-flowing exhaust.

also id do and im in the same boat although im gonna get a loan and do heads and cams but gears long tubes and shorty h pipe and that might be over you price

I bought my heads/cams with about 3000 mi on them for $1500 shipped. Had the machine shop go through them with a fine tooth comb, gave the OK and put them on the car.

But, you'll need a little more than $1500 because you have to pay the machine shop, and get a tune. Also, if you're not installing them yourself, you'll need to pay labor.

Like someone said, if you save up money fast, save up for a blower of some kind.

If you don't, and you're itching to spend this money now, get some good hp bolt ons and a good tune. If you're feeling frisky even, throw a 75 dry shot on there WITH A GOOD TUNE

wow you got a great deal ponygrrl... I personally have never seen anyone selling a *nice* head/cam combo that was not in need on a valve job, etc. for $1500... guess I need to talk to your sources next time around

and yes, add another $400 on to that for dyno tune, more if you dont have a programmar or chip already, etc.

I would save towards a supercharger. Nothing beats boost for these cars. I think if I shopped around I could do a used vortech for around 1500.

Yeah I suppose I got lucky. They are Steen Racing Stage 3 ports (and I checked with my friend that worked at Steen to verify that) and also VT stage 2 blower cams. I found them on Corral.net after shopping around A LOT and PMed the guy a few times. He offered to have them gone through there as well. Very nice guy, was just changing setups entirely and had no use. My tuner did the tune as a favor as well bc the body shop I worked at was painting his car so I got very lucky.

But with nitrous, you can't go on the freeway and give it a good little punch and just have the boost there. I'd rather have the boost ready and not worry about having to refill, that way whenever I wanna have fun, I can . No little red button for me, no sir!
