Taking off Stock catback

I just got my Magnapacks. But i want to keep my stock catback and get it off in one piece. I heard this is impossible and you will need to cut through the piping. I also heard if you have a Lift you can get the catback off just fine. So which one is true? I have access to a lift but not sure when i will be able to use them. So if i can do this myself the sooner ill be able to put my new exhaust on.

Also my muffers are welded in. Not sure if that matters. Previous owner this. So is this a problem?

thanks

Jack the car up the in rear. Put the stands where the rear lower control arms connect to the unibody. This should allow for your axle housing to drop down away from the car. if that doesnt give you enough room remove shocks etc to drop it low enough.

only way to get off a welded exhaust is to drop the rear axle (with out cutting that is )

just cut them both in the same spot and then you can use clamps to reinstall if necessary.

The stock exhaust setup is as follows:

Exhaust manifold -> screws -> H-pipe -> screws -> catback (mufflers and tubing that runs over the axles)

So what happens is after unbolting the catback, you have no way of snaking it out unless you drop the rear axle. I simply cut mine off with a Sawzall. I was like, later bitch!
