best /cheap traction mods

i finnally launched my car with the 390's,and i cant get traction at all,I even peel out in 2nd gear, after ive hooked in first grear, and this is after ive heated up my tires,my street tires have alot of tread left ,so im not ready to get street dr's,so what are the best/cheap suspension mods i can get,I was going to get a tuner but whats the point if my car cant hook,

All the mustang guys around here launch with there TC on then take it off when they hit second,I havent tryed it but they say it works real good, wouldnt that bogg ur car down

Correct about the traction control chances are its gonna screw you it will sense that the wheels are spinning too fast or 1 wheel is spinning too fast vs the other. It will then make adjustments to your engine to compensate for the problem it reads meaning lowering your rpm and applying the brakes to both or the needed side. As for the mods ill leave that up to everyone else. Im not going to say "GET THIS" or "GET THAT" to have you get something youre disappointed with. In my opinion go with what you think is best. Not everyone else.

i dont no what to get thats my problem,i bought my firebird with a bunch of suspension mods already on it,so i never really had a problem hooking with that car,

As far as the TC,when ever i complain about traction the mustang guys i know just tell me to hit the magic button when i launch,i never tryed it,

I would never use TC for anything performance related. Thats only for old women who don't know how to drive a mustang in the rain. Maybe try shocking the tires less with a low rpm dump/ slip.

you could lower the tire pressure im not to sure how much this helps with street tires if at all.. but then you have things like upper and lower control arms, and i think there are launch springs that might help aswell..

Heres my opinion...Not telling you what to do as you said in the first post this is just what id do. Tell them to shuv their "little magic button" leave the TC off. What I explained in the first post is how traction control works. Tires spin to fast, computer makes adjustments to compensate for tires spinning too fast, those adjustments are 1. bog down engine 2. apply brakes to both or the side spinning faster. Second if I were to build up my rear suspension id go buy some upper and lower rear control arms which are fairly cheap, some good shocks, and springs. Springs being last and control arms & shocks being bought at same time.

my advise is free... dont lace into it so hard, just get as heavy into the pedal as you can before it breaks loose. you have to find that happy medium where you are on the verge of spinning but just grabin pavement

ajm... does TC actually apply the brakes as well?? im assuming through the ABS system

Does not apply the brakes, but it uses the abs sensors to determine wether the tires are spinning. Also, you have to hit the "magic" button to turn it off because it is on automatically when you start the car.

Unhook the front sway bar when you go to the track...
I've seen people gain 2 to 3 tenths...
And it pops the noise in the air to put weight on the rear...
A friend of mine had the sway bar hooked up and was spinning...
Then unhooked it and broke the axle...
So be careful if you have stock axles...

I ran 13.9 before unhooking mine with a 2.3 60'. Afterwards i went to a 13.6 with a 2.1 60'. May have just slipped the clutch better but it seems to help

depending on what you consider "cheap"... the sway bar trick works... but for ~$500 you can get a set of nice control arms and subframe connectors and it would help tremendously

If you have street tires your not goin to hook well as it is, and I hope your not doing a burnout to heat them up. That makes them more slick.

just get some tires for track use only...

nothing will make a bigger difference than a set of sticky tires

it will make the weight transfer a little more evenly to the rear and less body roll like you said

They keep your body from twisting in hard acceleration. Nothing to do with body roll. Your suspension controls body roll. They will help with your launch though.

Sorry, I was talking about at launch it won't apply brakes. It will apply brake if one wheel is spinning faster than the other at higher speeds, and not at WOT. At launch they will be spinning the same, and it will only cut the throttle and spark.
