Odd little noise

So sometimes if I shift faster than normal into 3rd when I'm flooring it, I'll hear what almost sounds like a belt slipping. It's only for a split second in between the shift. ANy ideas as to what in the hell it is?

It doesn't do it everytime. Only when I stomp on it and shift really fast into 3rd.

Sounds like belt slippage haha. The belt slips from the extra force from the downshift or flooring it. Its not a constant tension. Kinda need a better description of what it sounds like than an odd little noise

But it could be belt slipping. Check if there is dust on the underside of the belt. or if its squeaking when you push on it.

I'll try one day. I don't 'like' shifting that fast because I have the stock shifter and I don't want to get new synchros... again.

It just happens every once in awhile. I'll shift out of muscle memory rather than using my brain and saying 'shift slower, you don't have another $553 to spend'

My belt doesn't squeek ever. The serpentine belt still looks new. No cracks in the ridges or anything. It doesn't squeek under heavy throttle, only on the 2nd to 3rd shift when I shift it fast as fuck...

I would still check for dust on the underside. And check the pulleys where the belt isn't on them. That would narrow it down to something else.

Check your pulleys. I had the same problem not long ago. Had an idler pulley that i knew was bad and I never messed with it and the original belt (bought car with 8miles now at 73k). Changed belt and pulley and now its fine. The belt price is RIDICULOUS from ford your best bet would be an aftermarket. List on it is 60 something. I managed to get it for 30 something bc employee discount that is the only reason I went with it vs the gatorback or whatever.

If ya can't find it, grind it!

I figured it could've been the clutch... Just another reason for me to hate my Spec... If I had the money right now, I'd buy a new clutch and just send the Spec to Bessemer, Al (where they're made) and write on the pressure plate, "This thing is a PEICE OF SHIT. I chose ___ instead of your crap that lasted ___ miles"
