That really depends on what mods are done to the car. The absolute best is to get the car on a dyno and see at what RPM it stops making power. Than set the shift light there.

But for a stock car like yours I would set it at ~5500 RPM or at least not much after the redline starts on your stock tach.

My comments were choppy so I can understand the confusion but
he stated that was a a/f gauge in his initial post, so I got that. he also said the shift light was set at 2500 but the "Car's Tach" says around 200 when the light comes on. his a/f guage is what looks like a digital clock. Again, great installation of the shift light.

That looks awesome . I'll get one too...eventually...

As for what RPM to set it at, I'd set it at 200 RPMs less than your shift point, unless you have a zero second reaction time lol.

Dammit...of course I meant the tach said 2000 not 200, missed a zero there

I figured it was a communication break down

But yeah, I'm not surprised that his stock tach is off. Most factory tachs are WAY off like that. That's why a dyno sheet and a shift light can help someone pin point the peak power for their car.

I know when I did my raptor light on the old SS my factory tach was off quite a bit also.

BUUUMMMMPPPP

I got to see this in person and it looks bad ass! I saw a thread on ls1tech awhile back of a guy that did the same thing, but he did a PISS POOR job on drilling the gauge face. Travis did a hell of a job. Looks factory. We WILL be doing this to my car in the very near future and hopefully Travis can get a write up done for you guys.
