thats crazy. You finally picked up some top end

I want gears, but I don't want to eat up my tires and pay out the ass for installation.

I think Ima keep it simple with a short throw

i think i can pull of a 13.8 at 99 if i can get traction
i think that other high run would been a 13.7 if i hadnt had tranny issues

now try it in drive with o/d off & leave off the foot brake at about 900rpm (just enough to load the susp.) not shifting just let the computer do it. worth at least 1-2 tenths.

I do have almost 30 yrs (started in 81) & have had cars in the 9's imo thats a pretty smart ass answer from some one who has so litte experience with cars that they have to ask where to put trans fluid at. so much for trying to help your dumb ass.

I have a 2001 GT auto and my first run I ran the best and I forgot to turn my O/D off. then I remembered the next 2 times and ran slower. idk I mean the O/D off seems better on road roll racing. drops you down a gear. but hell not bad for 3:73's. can't wait for my 4:30s and SCT Tuenr!!

i do not have a tuner there for i can not set rpms for shifts. i dont like leting it do it either. it shifts early and ive stated on many threads this but i keep having people tell my to put it in drive. the shift is just as fast as it is in drive just at a higher rpm. the time everyone compares is time from clutch to gear to release, i am not effecting that at all. yes it leaves me open to error but to me that is wat drag racing is. an equantance just bout a built version of this transmission for his 2006 turboed roush and hes leaving it to computer to shift which imo is girly. yes i bout an auto but i got a good deal and this car was goin to be made manual and pure drag car but unforeseen events have forced it to be a dd. as for the tube for fluid thats wat i thot and have done before but i was double checking w a haynes manual and a friend which said it was ontop of tranny and i was like wtf? so i did it w/out checking responses. i am buying a manual valve body and having it dynoed to set a shift light.

don't shift your 1-2. Drive only. you have one of the best streetable auto tranny( IMO) . the 4R70W is a badass and well built factory tranny. just added mercon V(5) tranny fliud and a 34 dollar tranny cooler and your good for a good amount of HP.

with stock gears your barely getting into drive let alone o/d in the 1/4 so with no gears shouldn't really matter if you went slower with it off on 2nd & third run it would help to know by how mutch/etc, most likely is something else. as far as leaving it on once you get 4.30's you'll be putting a trans in after a few full throttle shifts into o/d thats the major weak point on the 4r70w

Ill jsut say this is Jeff's defense...

Most autos are running mid 14s. his stock all the way down to the factory Ford mufflers ran a 13.96... The autos that are running mid 14s leave em in Drive...

Just saying... by the way casper, Jeff knows what he's doing. The reason he asked where to put his tranny fluid is because he's used to working on Foxes, not modulars. Thigns are quit different beween the two which Im sure youd know...

Just clearing things up here...

the dip stick for trans is in the same place on a fox or modular dosen't matter & as far as leaving it in drive vs. shifting I have over 500 passes in my auto & there is no doubt which way is faster. you cant go over 5k on a stock set up manualy shifting but the computer in a stock car shifts @ 5650 which do you think is better? as far as the time goes whats the elivation your running at? because unless its under 500' I call bs no stock new edge auto is that fast period. but then being as it was bough used you dont have any idea if is stock do you? thats what I though, your just guessing it is. like I said before I was trying to help out a clearly inexperinced guy ( the reason I say that is again "where does the trans fliud go","where is the filter",etc, etc.)
