Odometer Problem Solved -- Thanks for the Help

I took the instrument cluster apart and fixed the odometer problem yesterday thanks to all of the tips I received on the forums. Thanks for the help.

Background: First tuner said I had 3.73 gears. He set the computer to 3.73s. My odometer went off by 17%. ??? The second tuner said I had 3.55s now my odometer was only off 8.5%. ??? Speedometer right, odometer off... WTF? I jacked the car up and checked. I could swear I had 3.27s. I asked about odometer problems but no one had heard of that before.

Then I got a tip about the dealer troubleshoot trick with the odometer. You can make the odometer read your speed. I did that and the needle on the speedometer was off 7 mph. The previous owner put in an instrument cluster overlay. He thought zero on the speedometer actually meant zero!

The fix: I took the instrument cluster apart. I took the speedometer needle off with spoons according to your tips. I jacked up the car on jack stands and I ran it at 15 mph putting the needle back on at the correct place. The speed according to the odometer and the speed according to the needle are now only 3/10 mph apart. I don't think I can get closer than that.

But... now that it's right, its off. The computer thinks 3.55s when there really 3.27s. I decided to hell with it. I have an appointment to put in 3.73s. They will fix that minor problem.

Again, thanks for all of the tips.
