Steering components problems

Not sure if this goes along with suspension... close enough I guess...

I have a problem with my front steering... It pulls to the right and makes a rubbing/grinding noise when I steer back left or turn left at all... It won't hold an alignment because I hit a curb pretty hard in FL in the rain about a year and a half ago... A mech. said one time it had a bent tie rod end? I have "visually" inspected both on both sides and can't see any bends.

Any suggestions on how to test certain parts in the garage? I don't wanna pay shop fees for diagnosis. Also, the drivers front tire is wearing down very fast on the inside, but no visible uneven wear on the passenger side.

Is there any chance a wheel hub/bearing has or is going out and making the noises and causing the alignment problems?

You have been driving your ride for a 1.5 years like this?

Sounds like you bent something under there. Do yourself a favor and pay someone to figure it out and fix it. The cost of the premature tire wear would have probably paid for the diagnosis I am sorry to say.

You could put it up on a lift and do some VERY close comparisons between sides and will most likely find the problem.

Yeah... the first 12-15 months there wasn't anything noticeably wrong with the driving other than the steering wheel being a little crooked... now it's making a noise and actually pulling to the right... I guess I'm just a little hard headed or cheap. or both.

I would be willing to bet that you have a wheel bearing that is shot. ON top of that you probably bent the strut and that is throwing the front out beyond the capabilities of being aligned. I would start with those two parts. They are relatively inexpensive and you could do it yourself if you are fairly mechanically inclined....the only special tool needed really is a spring compressor for the strut....Let me know how it goes...

Was thinking more about your car....while you are checking the strut, check the top spring plate, that may also be tweaked....My wife was ran off the road by a city cop and hit the curb. Had to replace the Hub assy (bearing)m Strut and all hardware on top of the strut to include plate, plastic bushingsm studs and nuts. Good luck

Thanks for the input. I haven't had much time lately to look at it, but it's not being driven much anyhow... I'll check those things out though!
