flowmaster 40's too quiet

Ive been running straight pipes for awhile now on my 01 at idle the lope from the crower stage II cams was very noticeable the car was also quite loud @ 3k+. The crackle letting off the gas and sounding like a helicopter cruising got old. Anyways I welded in some flowmaster 40's (42443) and these things sound SLIGHTLY louder than factory and the lope is no longer noticable. I guess this is the common sound for these things or would an o/r x pipe change a lot?

Straight pipes as in no cats and no mufflers?
If you have cats take em' out and that'll solve your problem.
As for the flowmaster; adding mufflers do an exhaust will quiet it up. You will have a noticable difference with straight pipes and having mufflers in the system.

Mufflers are restrictive compared to straight pipes
