New Mustang and stock sucks

Well I did it I just bought a 2000 Mustang GT with 62k miles on it. The car is 100% stock and thats got to change. Ive so far decided to order a set of MAC LT's, MAC H-pipe w/cats, and a flowmaster american thunder cat back. Im a little confused as to which air intake I should go with and also if a plenum and throttle body would make a significant difference in power. With just the full exhaust and an air intake what type of rwhp will the stang be putting out. Well guys thanks for any input I can't wait to dig into modifying this Mustang as the performance is pretty lackluster compared to my LT1 Camaro I just got rid of.

Do gears first! I just changed to 3.73's and it made a huge difference in launching and overall low end power. Highway cruising is still good and the top end wasn't affected much at all. Doing gears is the most noticeable improvement you can do first.

Yeah I had thought about that, but what little gas mileage I do get I need to keep as I drive about 160 miles a day to work and back. So I think gears are out for now at least.

+1 do gears first, they'll give you the most bang for your buck as far as bolt-ons go. as for a CAI, i highly recommend JLT

the 373s wont hurt your mileage much at all. u should get 19 around town and 24 on the highway if you can be easy with the right foot some of the time. def the best mod you can do to start with.

Ok well maybe I'll give the 3.73's a shot and see how they workout. I found a local shop that'll install the gears very reasonably. Im thinking maybe a nice auburn for the rear and some 31 spline axles while they're back there working on it. With the full exhaust listed above and the CAI how many rwhp would you guys think my Mustang is pushing?

bone stock, you're looking at probably 220-225 rwhp. with the mods you mentioned, i'd guess probably about 235

with full exhaust, and a cai you can expect to gain 15-20 at the wheels but the sound you're going to get is priceless! the gears wont add any power but itll wake your car up for sure, you're gonna love it.

go with 4.10 gears, if everyone will realize your gas milage would actually improve cause your car runs better and more effiecient at higher rpms. Its everyone stomping on the gas so much that makes them think it gets them worse. Plus you don't buy a freaking mustang for gas milage. So go with 4.10's for best performance, i would say go with 4.30's cause thats what i have and i love them, even drive 80pmh on the highway and gas is fine. Just everyone please stop worrying about the difference in gas milage between gears, there is really no difference especially between 3.73 and 4.10's but there is a difference in the performance

gears should be the first thing (i like 410's) c&l cai, exhaust, plenum, tb, pulleys, chip, and springs is a good order. your camero will be a thing of the past.

white 99 stang, there is a god damn difference in gass mileage, i went from stock to 4.10s in my last car and if your driving on the highway like i do everyday theres i huge difference. if you dont care then fine dont care. and in a car thats riped around town and taken to the track there awesome but not in a daily driver you commute any distance in. im not going to argue with you cuz its simply fact. arguing against facts is as fuckin retarded as buying a honda. but there is a difference.

Dude. A drunk driver hitting a stang... is probably the best example of why our world is hopeless. Drunk people deserve to be backed over by stangs... not the other way around.

I'm going to angrily hit drunk people with my stang now. We loose more damn good stangs to them.

That's about the worst feeling possible... your stang taking a hit.

Amen. Period, manual or auto. Gears are a must first mod, think of the stang as a sleeping mountain lion stock, sure... it looks vicious, and you probably don't wanna f*ck with it. Unless of course your another mountain lion, then competition.

Now, that mountain lion is very imposing, but hey.... when it's awake, your like run motherf*cker, run. Your stang is like an awake mountain lion with gears.

Rawr. Get 4.10's, manual or auto. Don't listen to everyone else.
