High Idle

so i put a IAC restrictor in my car cuz i hated how the rpms would hang up, it worked mint for about a week.. then the damn thing started idling high i did everything to try and get it back down but nothing worked, i took the restrictor out and it still idles around 2,200 rpms. it drives me fuckin insane. i can let the clutch out and shift up to 5th gear with out touching the gas and cruize at 60 mph. how the hell can i get it to idle around 1000 again??

try cleaning out your IAC with some carb cleaner. i had problems like yours too and i wound up having to replace the throttle position sensor. after that, i had no problems at all

is it normal to have all kinds of black shit in your plenum? i had the CAI off from the throttle body and i was looking in to see where the butterfly was closing and i noticed just passed the TB is all black and when i took the IAC off i stuck my finger in there and it was coated in black shit..like burnt up engine sledge shit, I cleaned out the pcv valve but it seemed to be free when i took it out, il try cleaning out the IAC and Il let ya know, if that doesnt help any other suggestions??

how do you idle at 500 roms? at 600 rpms you will not be able to charge the battery therefor leading to lots of other problems? not saying it cant be done for awhile but you wouldnt want it to idle there all the time. mine idles at 750rpm

slight noob question while roughly on topic (saves posting a new thread)... IAC will solve the annoying inconsistent idle? Mine goes from 1000 to 500 RPMS on a consistent basis.. Its annoying... IAC fixes that? Price? Install difficulty?

check the idle screw but thats not where your idle is adjusted from, the idle is in the computer. and to answer the noobs ?, yes it should fix it and you can do it yourself for the price of some carb cleaner
