Possible rear end problems

So I just went on a road trip and when I stopped to get gas after 300 miles of driving, I noticed a whine or a moan coming from the rear end when I turned sharp. I proceeded to finish my 1200 mile round trip with each time I got off the freeway to get gas the sound got worse...It has progressed to the point where it sounds like the limited slip is stuck/locked up, and when I turn it busts loose and makes all kind of racket followed by the moan. Any suggestions on what it might be?

any signs of fluid leaking from the pinion seal, axle shaft seal(s) or at the axle tube vent?
how many miles on it?
have you checked the fluid level lately?

No fluid leaking...it has 71k on it and it is my daily driver, I have never heard that noise before and no I havent checked the fluid level yet. I kind of figured that it might be low and that long drive just heated it up to a point where the clutches stuck together....not sure though

yeah, well I'd bet it's either low on fluid, the fluid is worn-out, or both as the rear diff is supposed tobe serviced at @30k intervals under normal use, so your way-way over due.....

Haha you are in bellevue? Neat. I had the cover off to mine not too long ago, its all pretty easy to get to and look at on the inside, but I found putting oil back in to be a trick.get a funnel and a decent length of hose if you don't have it.

sounds like the clutches are shot or maybe the spider gears are worn out
