Help with exhaust clearance with 315/35/17 on 10.5'' wheel. *PICS*

i recently bought a used set of 03/04 cobras, and the rears are 10.5'' out back. currently then have 285/45/17's BFG's on them and they are on their last leg. ive been looking under the car and it looks like 315's will be a tight fit. i have aftermarket 2.5'' tailpipes from the mufflers back. judging from the pics i only have about 1 1/2-2'' of clearance tops.

my question is, going up 30mm in width, will i have any rubbing issues? does anyone have little clearance between their exhaust and 315's?

ive done some quick calculations and it looks like the 285's are 11.22'' wide and the 315's are 12.40'' wide. given with tread depth and whatnot, it might be a little off. so there is a difference of 1.18'', and if im right thats only adding .59'' to each side of the tire.

just took these a few mins ago. currently has 285's on it.

thanks for any help guys

so with the flowmaster cat back that you have, how big are the tailpipes and how close is it from rubbing? less than 1/2'' or so? thats what im thinking ill have.

Won't the heat of the exhaust do something to the rubber?

i wouldnt think so. tires get warm as you drive more. plus my tailpipes dont get very hot. i can pretty much wrap my hand around them right after driving it.

Yep Flows 2.5's and there is about 1/2 inch between tire and tailpipe. I check for damage every so often and so far nothing bad has happened.(Looks up says prayer)

that makes me feel better about ordering them next week. but then again, it really depends on who installed them and the placement of the mufflers/tailpipes.

i wish i had an exhaust clip. the mufflers were 40 flow's and were at least 4 years old so they were probably blown out and had no function. plus LT's and an O/R H-pipe, it sounded terrible with dumps.

im glad no one is having issues so far, i just wanted to make sure before spending the money. thanks

I have some rubbing on that section of tailpipe and running 315's on 11"s. I also have no rubber left on the "E" brake cable on the opposite side of wheel. The rubbing would only occur during pretty severe articulation of rear axle. I also have much more articulation than the stock suspension, so fuggetaboutit

Thanks! I thought about stainless bumper inserts but wanted to stick to the smoked/blacked out theme. No regrets and it was cheaper

I have 315's and I had tons of room but I do have deep dish rims. But now my exhaust is dumped so there no issue.
