Finally ordering mods for the GT! Need opinion/advice.

Hey guys.

I've always heard that gears is the best bang for the buck. The GT is sitting in the garage until May/June. I really wanted to get wheels and springs or exhaust first but I really hear gears are best..let me know . thanks!

Oh man chris. Gears, FTW.

I'm going to tell you. I have yet to get a new exhaust on my 2000 stang, on the other one though i do. I have everything else in this one.

Hands down, the thing I wish I had first on this one was gears. I waited but on the other stang I got gears first. Totally amazing. It was like driving an entire, sexier, more serious car. A stang really isn't mature enough to be called a muscle car until it has those gears.

Get them, I'd advise the FRPP 4.10s but, if your looking to save a buck you can get the other brand 410s for about 100 less.

I have 410s.

Lately I have been hearing alot about 430s anyone have them or know if they are worth it? Are they better feel than the 410s?

gears, exhaust, pullies...i would prefer my car to go fast rather than looking good, but as of yet, it doesnt go fast or look good! but i am working with the engine before i touch the paint or rims.

But If I wanted to get a T56 tranny in the future would buying gears be pointless or no? I could probably just put the gears in that.

the gears we are talking about go in your rear end not your tranny.and if you plan on getting a t56 i STRONGLY reccomend 410s

why get a t56? not to say not to get it or whatever...i just wanna know why...cuz ur trans can take up to 500hp. also...you should get 4.10's no matter what! now dont go and get those cheap $140 gears..they suck...go FRPP...$170-190 on 50resto.com summitracing.com will price match anything so if you can find em cheaper and summit sells the same product...they'll give you that price...get ur tuner from a reputable SCT dealer that provides custom tunes...

I just thought it would be kinda cool to have a 6 speed in a GT for a change..but it would really cost me. Not just that but isn't having another gear an advantage over 5spd's?

Oh and I thought I should get 3:73's at first because If I KB it ..I wouldn't be so outta control. With 4:10s and forced induction aren't you just spinning through first and maybe second? so I hear but them people could be wrong.

Here is a link to a "Gear Kit" I can get on americanmuscle.com

http://americanmuscle.com/xcal2-410-gear-oil-kit.html

check it out and let me know what you think!

If you are doing the gears yourself and/or don't want to hear the tech that did it curse your car, get FRPP. First off, they're made the exact same way as your stockers so you can use the same shims (if your car needed them while being built) instead of doing all the frickin measurements for backlash and pinion depth... Secondly, I got motive and granted they work amazingly but DAMN they were hard to get in there... we had to shave the pinion bearing to press it on, and all those measurements were a PITA.

Just my $.02

EDIT: Also, suspension helps out TREMENDOUSLY. I just installed Tokico D-spec 16 way full adjust (on compression and rebound) shocks and struts with Eibach Pro-kit springs... the back end squats like MAD when I'm at the track (or a light ) and have it on full soft. On full hard it corners like a DREAM! I shaved off 2 and a half tenths off the quarter with just this mod alone.

you wont have the advantage over other stangs unless you are going 100+ in my auto i dont even get outta third by the time i've passed the finish....it'll be good for highway driving but thats about it...imho i'd spend that 2+ grand on something that'll make my car faster...but thats me...dont get me wrong...it'll be kool....i'd like to put on in my car...but i'd rather spend the money on the engine or suspension

GTSilver..have you ever thought about getting a Cobra R hood and ROUSH front fascia? I saw it on a silver Mustang like ours and it looks unreal..something to think about.

yea i thought about getting some body stuff for my ride but i like having it stock on the outside...it kinda adds to the "sleeper" look...a little surprise in disguise...i know a guy down here with cobra r front facia and lambo doors...looks sweeeet..its just not for me.

Yeah man..I'm also into the "sleeper" kind of look..and it is a nice surprise when people come up to you thinking..aah its just a stock GT..and then BAM! got there asses handed to them..heh!

What I do want to add is the chin spoiler and grill delete..thats basically it.
