You might want to look into some synchro mesh. That stuff does wonders.

This happened to me for a while before my transmission blew. I believe it is the syncros. I tried replacing the oil and it didn't help either. There was nothing I could do about it, but hope it didn't blow, until one day 4th and 3rd went. The best advice I can give on this is to baby it while it is cold, and maybe take it in to have it dropped and inspected. I wouldn't really suggest swapping anything out on it as new and old parts don't mesh to well.....trust me, I know, just got done going through that. I hate to say it, but I think it is only a matter of time before something blows in there and you will need a complete rebuild or new tranny.

Check with the manufacturer, maybe PM Randy as there is a special type of oil that is supposed to be used in the mustang transmissions. I assume your ride is not under warranty?

I agree with ~C~. Definatley PM Randy Stichcomb (sorry if spelled wrong) and talk to him about your issues. He's usually up to par with the TSB's and tranny issues on Mustangs.

pro motion also does rebuilds that can hold up to around 750 hp for about the same price. All i now is our trannys use ATF. But synchro mesh stuff is pretty good also.

I got a rebuilt tranny from Jasper. It was fine, and it was $1800, with a warranty of 3yrs 36k miles. It paid off cause I am on my fourth jasper transmission. The final one I received had completely new internals. I would go with Pro Motion and do an upgraded tranny when this one blows, just make sure it comes with some sort of warranty. I think this is the reason why I went with the Jasper one instead.....but regret not upgrading.

*edit
BTW, it took quite some time before the tranny actually blew from the time the noise started. I would put some cash aside for that just in case, but don't bank on it happening tomorrow.
