Need some help with strange noise......

I have a 2001 Bullitt and I have this whine like noise, very short just really when the car is cold and only when I release the clutch to take off. Just under normal driving conditions, thought it was the gears in the rear end, but I just had them upgraded to 3:73's yesterday but the noise is still there. It does not happen after the car has gotten warmed up and just started a couple of months ago. Please can someone help me with this, thanks

Before my tranny went out a bunch of my buddy's said it sounded like it was supercharged like a twin screw/roots style supercharger. Check your tranny fluid. Now granted my car made this sound continuously but its always a possibility. Check your rear end fluid also.

If it is your daily I would do it sooner than that. You don't want to be drivin around w/ low/no fluid in anything engine, tranny, or rear end b/c it all cost money to replace.

I'm 95% sure it's just the transmission... Mustang transmissions are notorious for whining

I will probably park it and cause I work 2 jobs so the earliest I can do it is on Thanksgiving, hopefully it just needs tranny fluid and nothing is damaged

remove your front bumper to gain access to your differential gears, remove the 4 of them with a 12mm screwdriver, a breaker bar, a DVOM, and a dinner fork. inspect the teeth on the gears to make sure that the gears have teeth on them. if not, you will have to take the gears to a mechanic to have them re-toothed.

Yeah definitely sounds like a tranny. Mine was doing that last year and I drained the fluid and put full synthetic with a bottle of lucas oil in there. Dead silence since...

I used the transmission fix...im not sure if the oil stabilizer would be good. Mobil one synthetic ATF is what I used, I had that whine and some crappy synchros. It shut the whine up but the damn synchros are still crap...but from what I gather from this forum that is a common thing on the 3650

Is it only on take off or does it occur during driving with the car in gear as well? If it's only on take off it might be the tob, if it's during normal driving it's probably coming from the gears, like others said check the fluid levels

Its only on take off, the gears were just replaced on Monday and I had this noise prior to them being replaced. The noise is not coming from the rear of the car I got pretty good with figuring out which part of the car a whine was coming from after having the gears whine for a little bit....lol and as far as the TOB I just had it and the clutch replaced a year ago.....could it have gone bad again that quick? When it went out the last time the noise was not like this it was a constant low whine......MAN I AM SO TIRED OF ALL THESE WHINES I HAVE HAD OVER THE LAST YEAR.........LOL its driving me crazy....and to top it all off I cant get a P1000 code to reset so I can get my tag.......its has not been a good time lately.........thank you for everyone's help.....as for the lucas I pick up a bottle of the tranny fix not the oil stabilizer.

It's possible the TOB went bad that fast, was it OEM Ford or aftermarket?
