H-Pipe and Flowmaster Exhaust ???

Thinking about an O/R H-pipe to compliment my Flowmaster exhaust, but wanted some insight into the issue of volume change.
Upon startup, what is the degree of difference in terms of volume...........I mean, is it going to be just sick loud or is that mainly at WOT. In other words, if I install this and wake up and turn the unit on, is my wife going to hear it and be like........ ??????

Towards this end, is something like the MAC Prochamber going to be louder than my current set-up but not as obnoxious as just an O/R H??

Also, what about cabin drone? I dont mind the Flowmaster drone at all, but is an H going to make it inteloerable???

any off road mid pipe weather its h, x, prochamber its going to be loud. flowmasters are fairly quiet mufflers so it wont be anything intolerable

i have a slp high flow x and lm1s and my buddy has a mac o/r h and flowmaster 40s. next to each other their about the same and start up its about the same. i think from a distance mine is much more distinct though from the resonators. (when i got my exhaust on he heard me coming a good 3 minutes before i got there). as chefalan said flowmasters are fairly quiet so they even it out.

my set up o/r h pipe with flow original 40s

drone isnt bad at all, a little annoying at 2k rpm but tolerable

it is loud but theres louder, however it sounds sweet, ive gotten many compliments

as far as the start up goes, i can go outside to let my car warm up and here it idling from inside the house, but its not outrageously loud that will wake the neighborhood up...unless ur at WOT at 6am in the morning on main street

Like stated before, any o/r midpipe will make the volume increase. To change the tone you change your mufflers. For the tone, its all about preference.

the drone shouldn't get any louder. I dont remember mine getting any louder when i threw my O/R H pipe on.

Start up being louder.... Most Definitely. Specially when you engine is really cold. Fall/winter time.

But if you have Flowmaster, O/R H pipe is definitely a good choice.

Thanks for the feedback...........its just so happens that today on another board, some guy is selling a Bassani catted X-pipe. Only $150..........I could grab it tomorrow if I wanted............Ive heard some real negatives on the sound of an X-pipe with the Flows..........but I like the idea of having SOME kind of cats to muffle the sound a bit.

Any insight into this set-up from any of you guys????????

x pipes and flows sound amazing in my opinion...especially if you get the super 44's. but I haven't really heard any flowmaster 40's with xpipe combo's that I didn't like. youtube it and see for yourself.

............wow, that sounds awesome. Supermachones sounds awesome too.
Its definately significantly louder...................still, is sex!!!

I might go with this catted Bassani X...........just $150, the unit retails for 3X that much...........plus, its used. Thats important because I cant just say to the wife, "Hey.........check out my new exhuast sound.....got an X-pipe" = on the spot divorce.

I gotta come up with some tale about going under there and having gutted the cats or some bs like that. Not figuring she'd crawl under there and check but just in case, I dont want her to see something shining and new!!!

I love the sound of my Flowmaster exhaust but the mid-pipes makes the car sound fcukking mean as sh!t!!!

My Bassani x-pipe has removable cats. It's quiet a difference in sound too.

i'm not knocking your setup or anything but cutting cats off a stock mid is kind of pointless if you ask me. you can buy a used o/r x or h in the mustang classifieds for 100 and have it installed for 50 bucks. just my opinion id rather not hack up the stock mid pipe, especially when its cheaper to just buy an x pipe. and about your wife, i have a trick that might work for you too, install some slp's with an o/r x and run that for a couple months, then when you put your flowmasters back on she'll love them.

Your cats are full of precious metals. You should be able to get at least $50 per cat if you sell them to a scrap yard. If you're paying someone $150 to cut your cats off and they get to keep them, you're getting ripped off.
