Very cool. Have you done a before/after dyno of the results? I'd love to see those.

Once again lots of claims, but no dyno info, and/or independent varification to prove it up.............Is this so hard, or asking too much? Best regards Plum

Hello Plumbago,

We did equal testing on both the Auto & Manual, and this Dyno was an Automatic.

Thanks,
David

Guys - Just swapped my JLT intake this afternoon for the Airaid. Gotta say I've not ever seen such a quality aftermarket intake. I've installed a myriad of different intakes on various cars. K&N, Injen, AEM, ARC, Cobb, JLT etc. None of them are even close to being on par with this Airaid system. If you haven't seen one in person you need to.

Spoke with David as well about a question. Super helpful. Live and learn. Anyone want a JLT intake for $200.....;-)

Yeah you guys have been hiding this one from me.
If you go with an intake you will be thrilled with the Airaid. The install was straight forward. A lot tighter fit than the JLT but it's obviously due to the tight tolerances they manufactured this to. If you guys get it there is a trick to getting the hump hose over the throttle body. The directions say attach the hose to the inlet pipe then slide it down onto the throttle body. Much easier if you put the hump hose on the throttle body and tighten down, then slide the inlet pipe into the hump hose.

For all you perverts flicking your nipples in front of your laptop right now, I'm talking about an intake not something sexual. Gotta admit though it's kind of funny that I was struggling to get my the inlet onto my hump hose.

I do kinda like the looks of it. It reminds me of an expansion exhaust chamber on the old two stroke motorcycles. But how does it really preform? Sure, I've seen the manufactures Dyno chart, but I'm kinda waiting to see some independent testing. On another forum, AM now says they did not test this CAI, when it appeared they said they did.......so still waiting.. Best regards Plum

Plumbago -

Regarding performance. I was really happy with the gains I felt on the JLT. Actually to be honest the CAI in general shocked me. I wasn't expecting to feel the gains after seeing some of the data that AM put together however I noticed it right away.

I stacked the CAI on top of some other mods which was why I didn't expect much. Borla Atak catback, Borla X-Pipe, FRPP 3.73's and a Bama Tuned SCT tuner (93 Performance). I'm not exaggerating when I say the the CAI stacked on top of these mods was the most noticeable gain I've seen so far outside of the 3.73 rear. Bama tune was close but most of what I felt with my tune was it smoothed things out making the transition from lower rpms to top end power less abrupt.

Switching from the JLT intake to the Airaid was an impulse buy and it feels the same. I had some money on a bonus MasterCard from work and when I saw the design of it I couldn't resist. Airaid is a little quieter while idling. Also the with JLT I heard a little hiss when I would be putzing along and tap the throttle a bit. I was happy with the JLT aside from the finish on the product. The CF intake tube from several feet away has a cool custom look. Up close it's less impressive. Also the heat shield fit fine on the JLT but it's pretty flimsy. A lot less to it.

We are currently in the process of testing this intake. However, the results that David posted are going to be spot-on. Airaid is a reputable vendor and their results are as reliable as any third party test. This intake is AMAZING quality. We found with their 2011 GT intake (that we used on our 2011 GT running 10 seconds) the fit/finish to be great, the smooth roto-molded tubing to be they key to delivering tons of dense, cool air!

Thumbs up, Airaid!

Information::::::::JDP Motorsports e-mailed me and said they have the 3.7 Airaid CAI in stock for shipment, shipped at $242.91 I have no connection with them. I may wait for other Dyno results and I may not, as this sounds like a reasonable price..............best regards Plum

I installed my JLT Carbon Fiber intake last weekend, replacing the stock intake. I also found the heat shield to be a bit flimsy. It has 2 mounting holes, one on the driver side that used the bolt from the original intake, and one at the front that didn't come with a bolt, but instead slid over the post coming from I believe the backside of one of the grille mounting bolts. This made for a really "sloppy" and loose install of the shield. To correct this, I found a washer and nut that fit perfectly over the threaded post. This corrected the loose fit of the shield. I also noticed the hiss that you are talking about, although I can't really hear it unless I have the windows down. Other than these issues, I am happy with the JLT.
