I need 4x4 or 4wd

ok so its been a while since ive been on here, just seeing what you guys think
so i live in wisconsin and im sick and tired of having to struggle with my mustang in the snow, so im selling it sadly, but what kind of car would you all suggest to get through snow? i would still like something fun to drive, has to be around 3500 though as im a broke college student
cars im considering are Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Dakota sport(short bed single cab)
any other suggestions on a decently fun car that could get through the snow?

I'd get 1 of these

Seriously a jeep wrangler would be my choice~ 4x4 for winter and drop top for summer

Outback.

/thread.

WHat? I'm dead serious. Unless you need to tow or want to rock crawl, you can't beat an Outback. It'll get better fuel economy, handle better, be better in the snow, have better ground clearance than most of the SUVs you'll look at, and be more comfortable for when you go on trips. Plus, it's not *that* hard to swap a WRX motor in when you decide you want some power.

well now i have 2 options to pick from at the moment
option 1. my moms looking to get a newer car and trade in her old one, so she gives me her 98 Grand Cherokee(black, 4.0L) and then she would trade in the mustang and i would be able to sell my rims and get some cash
or
option 2. try and sell the mustang, doubt any1 would buy a mustang in winter, problem is i would have to sell it before i buy anything, then i would try to buy this 1990 hard top with full doors Jeep wrangler 4x4

more than likely im probally gunna take option 1, then ill probally waste the money i get from my rims maybe raising the jeep a little, getting exhaust lol idk i never really seen any1 do that much to a cherokee

Grand Cherokees are full of rainbows and pure unadulterated fail. The only redeeming value that one has is the 4.0L, which is an awesome engine. If you're gonna get a Cherokee, get a regular one.

I'm in the same condition as you except I'm not selling the Cobra, just going to find something cheap but working for roughly $1500.

I've heard from the guys working the local Chrysler plants that the Wrangler is just a piece of junk, and if I get a jeep to get a base Cherokee.

I wouldnt mind a cheap Subaru if I could find any. Only ones I've seen need 2-3 grand worth of work to be reliable.

Michigan winters suck too my friend

well it will be gone on saturday to the dealership
the plan for now is take the cherokee to get through the rest of winter, sell the rims , then when summer rolls around and i get a little money from working full time go trade in the jeep and buy a awd car for maybe around 5000-6000

i remember towing it to the garage, all the time spent swapping in the new motor, finally getting it running, now 2 1/2 years later it will all be gone , do i have a problem if im getting upset about getting rid of it? or are all guys like this
i just hope it doesnt end up in the wrong hands and end up having a fart can on it lol

Hey man, I'm from Wisconsin to. Cadott to be exact. But you should get a jeep Wrangler, or a Dodge Dakota 4x4 or S-10 4x4.

I DD a wrangler. I love it. Its cool with the top down! (as it is right now with this 80* weather). Subaru's are bad ass in the snow, but probably out of your budget. Even a crappy little front wheel drive car will be better than a mustang in the snow.

I don't know why you guys keep suggesting pickups. Pickups SUCK in the snow!
