By changing the mass of the caliper, it changes the resonance frequency.

The mass of the calipers without the weights has a resonance that does something the GM engineers didn't like, either a vibration or noise. As they didn't catch this until production, the quick fix is adding weights. My guess is that at some point GM will change the calipers they're using, and the weights will go away.

Grabber that's not funny! There is a guy a few miles away in a different town that I drive by that has TWO trailers put together at an angle, and in the parking lot a 03 Mach1 for his daily driver. And a newedge body style saleen sitting right next to it. Both yellow.

He's doing it wrong! Besides, I bet both those cars still run and have all their parts.

Oh yeah... both are under a car cover at all times. No garage though. Saleens aren't cheap right?

I go through there every day. I will take a pic the next time I do. There was a 04 GTO above him.. I am not sure if he owns that too?

+1. I bet they have new calipers designed and they go on next year's production cars. Then they'll have a recall to replace all the calipers on the first year production cars.

Just goes to show that the Camaro was RUSHED out the doors. One of the reasons I never buy a 1st year production car. No matter who makes it.
This is nothing new though. The Camaro has always been known to have quality problems since I can remember. Anyone remember the brittle plastic interior cracking problems?
