Getting rid of a cobalt..

About 9 months ago my girlfriend bought a new 2006 Cobalt.. Well the problem is she really cannot afford it anymore with going to school and working and everything. I was wondering if there is anything we could do. Recently we also found out that there was a recall on something on the vehicle. I dont know exactly what but she is supposed to go get it fixed. Do any of you people that work at the dealers know anyway to get around anything.. We want to just get rid of it anyway we can.. thanks guys, your input is very much appreciated.
your friend dustin

I think you can have someone take over payments, but I don't know the legal how-to to do that. You can self-repo the car, but that will screw your credit for ever buying another new car.

I don't think that you can get the dealership to take the car back based on a single recall, and I believe you're out of the time frame for lemon-law buybacks.

Selling it is your only option. Chances are she is upside down on the value.

You could take it back to the lender (voluntary surrender). However, it would still show up as a repo and you would be liable for any shortage on the sale of the car at auction. They don't always go after you for the deficiency, it just depends on the lender. Good luck.

You could always set it on fire and let the insurance company write it off as a loss
