Went for ride in 97 Supra
So i went for a ride in a 97 Supra the other night and i must say i was very very impressed. It has a fully built motor and some crazy huge turbo that i dont remember the size of. 6 speed with a carbon fiber driveshaft and a 3.73 rear end, it puts out 600hp
![]() ![]() he got on it a little bit in 3rd gear and after we found traction i couldnt pull myself out of my seat i was planted so hard. they are definately gorgeous cars capable of some serious power ... but still not as nice as a good stang in my opinion

I don't really see where you could say one's better than the other. Supra's certainly got a MUCH nicer interior than any similar vintage Mustang, they put out pretty similar power, and they're about as equally easy to modify.
Purely subjective, if you ask me.

equally easy to modify however much more expensive lol i guess it just comes down to preference i prefer american v8's to japanes inline 6's, i actually liked the interior of the 97 stang a bit more than the supra, the supra felt really crammed to me, however the seats were alot nicer than wat are in my stang, but yea they are very comprable cars its just your preference i guess.

Supra are Japans Termi(or the Skyline) toss up. 2 of my friends love the Supra so I hear about them often. They are great cars but are costing more and more as the years go on. Like the Rev said they are good platforms but so are Mustang for sure.
I would still take my car over one

Supras are very nice cars. Nothing wrong with Asian cars, it's just all the damn CRXs, Del Sols, Civics, Accords, Lancers, Altimas, ect that give them a bad name. When done right an import can be just as sexy as mustang.

A nice performance car is a nice performance car no matter where it comes from. The problem is all these grocery getter economy cars that are riced the fuck out.

I love Supras. But way too damn expensive. It's hard to justify dropping $30K++ on a 15 year old car, no matter how rare they are. Like already mentioned, other than the interior, they really aren't that far advanced from a Mustang of the same year. Still a sweet car.

i dont see what everyone has against hondas i can respect a nicely built eg, ek, crx when its built with a b16,b18,b20,h22,k20. hell my buddy just sold his crx that he build back in the day even before there were 03/04 cobras and runs 10s spinning. its just the ratio of riced out/stock hondas to the built ones is ridiculous. but that goes with stangs too.

Built Hondas can be kind of fun sleepers, but they'll never attract the kind of attention and admiration that a Supra, Skyline, Mustang, etc will.
That aside, my personal problem with Supras is traction. They can sit at 1200+ RWHP and still run 12s. There are videos of Supras having traction issues from 60 rolls. If you ask me, Id rather have a 600-700 RWHP Mustang and roll out on Supras all day from digs and anything under highway speed rolls. |

If you take the time to properly build the suspension in a Supra, it will hook as well as any mustang. I love my mustang, but saying that a npi gt and a 2jz-gte supra are comparable modding platforms is like saying that bill cosby and usain bolt should be comparable sprinters. There's a reason that Supras are still going for 30+ thousand dollars while even terminators are dropping in value. They are incredibly easy to pull power out of (I've been around a supra that makes 600+ rwhp on a conservative tune, then over 1100rwhp on its kill tune. How many people do you know with mustangs that put over 1000 to the wheels and are still daily driveable? They're out there, but it's not exactly a common sight imho.) Supras just have an awesome presence. Look at it this way, what kill story (at the track, silly gooses) would you be more proud of and eager to share, "I killed a mustang" or "I raped a turbo Supra." Just sayin'.
That being said, I would prefer a terminator to a Supra because well built Mustangs are the cars that make my heart race, palms get sweaty, and pants get tight. As much as I love the exhaust note of a screaming turbo inline 6 (2jz-gte or rb26 = boner), at the end of the day I love the sound of my prochamber/flowmaster mustang gt too much to ever wish for anything else. |

Who said anything about an NPI GT vs a 2JZ-GTE? I said that Mustangs and Supras were comprable. If you're gonna talk about an NPI GT, I'd say the comprable Supra would be a 7M-GE car, not anything turbo. If you want to compare to a turbo 2JZ, I'd be looking at 4v cars, not single-cammers.
