Cobalt 2.0 Performance
scroll down to the bottom if you wanna see what you can do with a ss/sc and a basic socket set Cobalt 2.0 Performance what hahn does with a ss/sc LOL. step 1 was to replace the sc with a tc LOL. I would have to look them up but thier is a kit to bolt a turbo right up to the ss/sc's and make it a twin charged setup. there is one guy I have heard of with that setup pushing 400+ to the wheels on stock internals

Just curious, if its running a vortech then I'm guessing its not the SS/SC? Maybe an n/a SS? I was also slightly unaware vortech made a kit for those.

I used to drive an '06 Cobalt LT auto. For a 2.2L N/A motor it had TORQUE unlike any other 4-banger I have driven. Thing had radio controls on the steering wheel, a huge trunk for its size, and in my opinion has the best suspension of any FWD 4-cylinder economy car by a mile. If I had to get another FWD 4-cylinder car for under $10,000, I would only buy a Cobalt. Some guys have put Vortech centrifugals on their car, but there is no aftermarket kit that I'm aware of (read: fabrication required). The guys that have done it report no real performance gain over the stock Eaton, they say it lags like a turbo and robs power like a blower. Basically, it's a lot of money for nothing.

How about an '06 Cobalt SS with a supercharger AND a turbocharger (ZZP kit) on slicks?
![]() Video: Build thread (not very detailed, but the only one I have seen): My ZZP twincharge build - Chevy Cobalt SS Forums Dyno sheet: http://www.zzperformance.com/miscftp/Ryan06ss319a.jpg Burning through 1st and 2nd on slicks to run 11.09@132mph is pretty impressive for a FWD 4-banger (they say it puts down 319hp and is capable of more). There's also an SMG twincharging kit being developed. I don't know of any confirmed power numbers for the SMG kit (they are running it at 7psi to develop a street tune before turning up the power), but they estimate it will be capable of 400+hp. SMG prototype thread (worth a quick read, they are remote mounting the turbo at the rear of the car): SMG's first...REMOTE MOUNT TURBO TWINCHARGED LSJ!!! - Cobalt SS Network

08+ are turbo'ed. 260 hp, 260 ft-lb torque, 5.8 0-60 (i think that's correct)
The others are supercharged and have 205 hp 200 ft-lb. Both of them can easily be built. The Ecotec's are great 4 cylinder motors to build. Alot of drag racing organizations are putting limitations on them because the poor little Jap motors are having trouble holding their ground. +1 for the USA. |
