Explorer Sport Trac SVT, they actually made it?!

So my roommate and myself were discussing the SVT Sport Trac this morning (we both go to a tech school for building racecars, gearhead roommates are the best). I never knew they made the SVT Sport Trac, but my roommate (who is not one to make up stories, mind you) told me his friend had an Explorer Sport Trac SVT. He told me he had seen it with his own two eyes and pulled up pictures of a black SVT Explorer in a driveway on his friend's facebook. I could see someone possibly fabricating the body kit and such, but the wheels had an SVT logo in the center, so I'm not sure how easy those rims would be to get if the vehicle is a replica of the concept SUV. My roommate also mentioned that the SVT Explorer in question was sold through Ricart Ford in Columbus, OH (a Ford dealer known for getting special editions and limited run vehicles).

Everything I can find says the project was cancelled , so I can't figure out how this guy (who obviously has one) actually got it. I saw it was going to have 380-390hp/390lb-ft, contradictory reports as to whether it had a 4.6L or a 5.4L, and not much else beyond evaluations of the concept vehicle. Assuming it does exist, does anybody have accurate build numbers and/or a spec sheet for these things? Or is this just a replica that someone sunk stupid amounts of money into?

When you have a Ford Ranger packing a turbo 4-cylinder, all you can do is park in the back of the car show and realize that you're one-of-a-kind.

he could have grabbed the test model... just like that guy with the first cammed cobra (a year ealier than produced).. if it's putting out 380hp (crank) it could be a turbo 4.6.. I used to have one with the 4.0 V6.. I know they were making them with 2V 4.6s the 5.4L that was in my F150 only put out 300hp (Crank) so I would imagine it would have to be FI.. He also could have sunk some money into it.. really not that hard.. SVT logos, Wheels... suspension..

Personally I love sport-tracs, I miss mine, once my MKZ isn't upside down any more I'm getting another .. 4x4 though..
