03 expedition fx4

my moms got a fx4 expedition; the one that has grey plastic rocker panels. she was going to upgrade to a nice f150 loaded out; but is putting it off b/c of the econmy. the expedition only has 80k but all that plastic is discolored and has the "sunburst" pattern that im sure youve seen on them.

what to do? would that paint for plastic bumpers work? simple as cleaning the plastic and repainting it?

also around both the driver and passenger side the trim on the bottom of the windows (which is rubbery plastic) is pealing and turning green/grey from black and looks horrible!

the other problems are rusted tube steps and some rust on the hitch and front end metal around bumper. i know how to take care of the metal; but would like to get the plastic trim cleaned up as well so she can have the truck looking nice since she will be driving it another few years...

i posted on ford-trucks but havent gotten any responses...

The easiest thing with the rocker panels is probably just order replacements for it. If you want to go the painting route, you'll need primer, adhesion promoter, and probably a nice semi-gloss paint since the rocker panels aren't exactly a flat or glossy color. You'll need to sand them down a little bit to give the paints something good to stick to, that is what the adhesion promoter and primer are for. The stuff around the windows, you might as well order replacements for that since it's starting to peel back.

FORD EXPEDITION 03-05 06 07 08 CHROME WINDOW SILL TRIM ?? that looks like it would take care of the sill

cant find rocker panels; cant do take off a junker w/e becuase every single one ive seen has the discoloration/starburst patter

If you can't afford to replace them, you should look into painting them but make sure to use quality paints like Duplicolor and follow the proper steps to doing it.

saw those; they wont fit. the "fx4" has plastic rocker panels that are about 14" those are all 6" range

Krylon will work, but also treatments for plastics, like back to black, or poorboys has a few porducts.

Check out the Eastwood catalog I'm sure they have something for it.
