Service Engine light

icame on the other day. took it to autozone. no codes popped up. took it the next day to advance and no codes popped up. the truck seem to be running fine. it's a tiny bit choppy at idle until it warms up. i've been having COP issues. (that's coil-on-plug, not police) but the bad ones were replaced. the tech at Andy's in Chesapeake (shameless plug) said that the rest were weak and should be replaced soon. but, it's been running fine after just replacing the dead ones. is it normal for a CEL to pop if there's nothing wrong? doesn't make logical sense to me....

Is this a CEL or a "service engine soon" light?

The first is lit if there's codes thrown by the OBDII system. The second could be anything, including something that trips whenever you hit certain mileage points (i.e. "go take this to the dealer for your scheduled 60k tuneup").

What is your mileage on the vehicle and what kind of regular maintenance have you done, how recent?

76k on the truck. i've had 3 coil packs replaced within the last 2 months. was told that the others were weak and need to be replaced soon. i had the plugs replaced in january.

as far as the CEl/service engine soon. the only light that i'm aware of is the Service Engine Soon light. i was under the impression that in my vehicle, this light took care of all of it. i'm not sure if there's an actual "Check Engine" light, or a light in the shape of an engine, or whatever. i don't have the manual for it either, so i can't look there to see if it has another light.
