My friend got a Nissan Frontier and I got the chance to take a ride with her. We had a pretty quiet ride so I don't see any problems with the performance so far. From the inside, the ride is quiet enough to have a hands-free conversation while driving. The Frontier also has power to spare when towing uphill.

M y uncle has one and I test drove one the other day, wayyy better than the Chevy I tested, both had lift with 35's. The Chevy was like a slug, the Titan was still "gittin it" granted the chevy had a 5.3L and the Titan a 5.6L, unfortunatly both fell just short to my 5.4L FX4...FoMoCo FTW!

haha Get that T on stock size tires and you won't be outrunning him.

The Titan has SERIOUS low end power...up until about 50 mph they can hang right with our stock SOHC 4.6's.

Soon I'm going to be running long tube's on mine.
CAI and 2* timing advance is in the works. SHOULD be a good 35 hp jump.

Stock for stock, the Titan's can outrun the high HP Dodge's and Chevys (350+ hp). I find that pretty damn good considering the T's are 305 and 317 hp trucks.

Also find it a DAMN shame how the American companies are now building their trucks in foreign countries (GM=Mexico) whereas a Japanese company is building trucks and engines in the US.

Everyday there's always some guy that want's to argue that his Chevy is more American than my Nissan...Yet my Titan provided a lot more American jobs than his Mexican Silverado....

Weird how the US-based company market is operating now huh?

One thing I love about the Nissan trucks that I've always had a problem with with GM's trucks....road/wind noise.

Even with my AT+M tires I've got almost zero road/wind noise.
Never had as smooth a ride from a truck either as I have with my Titan.

Supposedly when they do a redesign, they're going to up the power to 400hp...

Considering my truck is 305 hp 379 ft/lb stock, puts down around 280hp, 340 or so ft/lb at the rear.....Expect those trucks to be outrageously fast.

With just a tune, CAI, and long tubes, the 5.6l's now can dip in to low 6 second 0-60's.....it doesn't even take much to get them running high 13's in the 1/4.

When I bought mine and started talking on TitanTalk, I began to wonder why our New Edge's were barely outrunning a truck that weighs 2500 lbs more, has lower gearing, and terrible aerodynamics....

Why do you HAVE to have the column shifter?

I personally like the console gate shifter a lot better.

Buy a 06-up
04 and 05's had a problem with the rear ends going out.

Be aware of pitiful fuel economy lol. I average 13 around town and 16-18 on the hwy.

This destroyed me internally the first time I filled up after having gotten 18 in the city with the stang. I just watched those gallons head up towards 30 and was too scared to look at the total sale price

i just hate the colsole shifter, doesnt feel like a truck with it. as for the fuel mpg's, thats other reason i kind of deter from it. the dakota gets good for a truck, i get 14-16 city/20.9hwy

the dakota is a mid size truck and can really notice it when i strap a load on it. suspension is too light, dont like much on the trailer at all. i had to put helper springs on it, but suprisingly it dont have much trouble pulling and no trouble stopping either. i really wanted a new titan, its was the only new truck on the market i like. now i have to settle for used, maybe look into GMC again.

If you choose the bench seat option, you get the column shifter.

I also like the console shifter better. If you are worried about the rear end, buy an '07 or higher, that's when the additional spider gears were added to the diff.

Bad fuel economy, try 11 city 15 highway...but I'm also running a 4x4 with towing gears, 33x12.50x20 M/T's that are load class E (10 ply) and I have a Superchips tuner with the 93 Performance tune and a 2* timing advance so I can't keep my foot out of it if I want to

Love this truck though

There has always been only two seating configuration options with Titans. Either you get a front bench seat with a column shifter or you get from captain's chairs with a center console and console shifter. That's the way it's been since '04.

I've had great luck loading my Titan down. I don't do a ton of pulling but I do a lot of hauling. Loaded it with my atv, then a 16ft trailer with a Kubota B7800 tractor and Woods mower the other week, no problem whatsoever.
GM's quality just hasn't been what it used to be lately, they're improving but Idk..

If you really want a GM truck, wait til next year, they're supposed doing a ton of upgrades. Ford is installing all new powerplants this year, I'd keep Ford as an open option as well

eh, guess i will look around more then. i pull quiet a bit, so i keeping the diesel option open as well. if i do that, i probably go with the dodge. i not sure if i utilize a diesel or not, and titan is only good looking truck out on market. another thought i have had is to find a used silverado ss awd too

Good luck with the SS....You'll be sucking down more fuel than the Titan.
I really don't think you should let the shifter be what steers you away from the truck...Go test drive one and see how much better put together the Titan's are than the competition. If Nissan would start advertising more, these trucks sale number would skyrocket.

i have driven the titan, love it. i love just about everything about the titan minus the mpg. as for the SS, they arent all that bad mpg. well, atleast the one i have been arount arent. nissan was going to drop the titan, kept it, but i dont know how much longer they will make it. the shifter steers me away, not the first truck i turn down because of that. the wife was mad at me when i wouldnt let her buy the 2 f150's because they had the console shifter and of course they are fords. for no reason will i buy a truck with a console shifter.
