1999 ford ranger misfire.

The truck had over heated and cracked the heads before I owned it, but the mechanic gave it back with all the same spark delivery accessories aka the coil, plugs and wires. So I'd like to think they got pretty wet. After replacing both the plugs and wires I am getting code p302. P302 is cylinder 2 misfire. Could this be a bad coil? If so how can I test it. I don't want to spend $80 dollars for the trcuk to continuously misfire.
