Serious '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Problems

Ok so my girlfriend's mom has/had a '96 jeep GCL that has some serious issues, and I'd like to know if you guys think I can salvage it and get more or just scrap it all together and make more off of it.

The problems would be that the catalytic converter isn't working probably and the exhaust is clogged.

I don't know if these vehicles come with an OBD2 sensor after the converter or not. I'm not even sure where they are to begin with as Jeeps on not my fortay.

And today it leaked oil for a few seconds and then basically "exploded" and shot oil all over the lower section of the motor and the misc parts down there and they are covered in oil.

This thing has flowmasters on it but I'm not sure as to the type. Do you guys think I can part it out and make some money? Alot of the parts on there aren't even 5 months old because my girlfriend's mom just replaced them. Such as the throttle body positioning sensor that her uncle was trying to replace today.

I'd personally like to nuke it.

This is what I would most likely do. The 4.0L can be found cheap and it's near bulletproof. When engine oil explodes everywhere, it's not usually a good thing. But first you need to figure out where the oil's coming from and why.

Fixing the cat isn't much of an issue at all. My buddy has a GC that we took to the Indy 500 one year. While we were there, someone went around and stole all the cats from the vehicles. He just took it to the exhaust shop and had them weld in a pipe. If you have emissions, you'll have to have them replace it with a new one.

Not a clue. I personally don't have the want-to to look for leaks.

It's had so many problems I think it's time to let it go.

Doesn't sound like it has too many problems depending on that oil leak. If you don't want to deal with it, then just sell it. A Jeep guy will pick it up real quick.
