Our Hennessy Viper

Well ive talked about it in a few threads so i figured it was time to back it up

My dad traded his old lamborghini countach straight up for this viper. Its a 1997 Daytona Viper GTS built by hennessy. Only 25 daytonas were produced and we have all the paperwork from john hennessy and various other big names involve in the daytona project. When we got it it only had about 6,500 miles all of which were track miles it was a strictly race car that happened to be street legal. theres hardly anything stock on this car. Its lightened, has suspension upgrades, built in roll cage, literally everything. Now for the power plant, its all motor

when the guy handed my dad the keys he said be careful it has over 700rwhp. We got a list of all the engine work done to it and its a stack of papers lol everything is forged and i believe the compression was 12.5:1 or somewhere in that area i need to look it up. It is a bored out stroker but im not sure what the displacement is at right now. I have driven this car and it makes my mustang look and feel like a toy. even with my s/c and 4:10s it doesnt pull anywhere near as hard. my dad took this car to the pocono speedway and hit 235 and ran out of room to go any further the nascars top out at 196 in the same spot, he was also doing 190 in the turns whereas the nascars do 165

but without further adieu (sp? lol)

from factory the vipers engine is normally red but they painted them blue for the daytona models

p.s. it runs open headers

we're not even rich my dad just knows people. he paid 50k for the lambo when he got it a while back and traded straight up for this viper in i think 2001. the guy who owned it retired from racing and he wanted something that he could settle down with lol i think we got the better end of the deal

They are selling a 2006 viper for 28000 on eBay all it needs is the bumpers and fenders and hood

190 in the turns?

a nascar is 10x more planted a viper with no splitters or aerodynamic mods. 235mph? come on man. once your over 160+ you cover ground so quickly. not doubting its capability of 235 but on a small road course...

the nascars do 165-170 in that same turn and the vipers pretty planted with 305s up front and 335s in the rear, it sits barely 2-3inchs off the ground and it does have a lower splitter under the front bumper you can hear it scrap in the video and thats off not even a 1in drop. We were pretty surprised at the #s our selves but they clocked us with the track equipment and showed us the numbers on a little print out if my dad still had it id post it up but hes not sure where it is
