You are asking that question on a Mustang forum? Should I buy rice or not? Really?

Me..I'd go mustang for obvious reasons. 1.Looks better 2.More power (depending on what year) 3.Cheaper to insure Sti 1.Boosted from the factory 2.Respectable import

Are you talking about a new 2011 GT or an STI? Because if we're discussing an '11 vs. an STI, I should slap you.
That is all you need to know right there. The 2011 Mustang GT is one of the best cars to come out of a US automotive manufacturing plant. For the price, you cannot beat its performance. Also, you'll probably get around the same gas mileage as compared to that turbo'd four-banger. My manager's current demo is a 2011 Auto, and is averaging about 24 mpg highway with about 4,500 on the clock. However, we are all going to be biased...especially me, I work for Ford. ![]() But numerous sources back us up. "Best power to weight ratio" "The Mustang is the galloping away winner" "Mustang is 0.5 second faster than Camaro" "Best all around pony car of the year" "Everything about this car is intoxicating" I'm not making these quotes up. Google 'em.

There isn't a lot of NEW cars out there that I would take over the new 5.0. At least in the relative price range. I'd say new 5.0 Those are just nasty. Personally, I'd take the new EVO over an STi.

But still, the 5.0 is the best buy of all of them.

you should really drive both cars before you decide.
as far as waiting for the boss. depends if you think spending an extra 10-15k is worth less amenities, no back seat, 30 more hp, and some badass recaro's. personally i dont. ive been considering an sti/wrx vs a mustang for a couple of months now. so i know where your coming from. IMO, the sti is a badass car. that being said you can buy a 2011 mustang premium with brembos for cheaper than you can get the "base" sti for. if its your dd id consider things like fuel economy, comfort, amenities, etc. as well as power. for example. the subaru has an 80 watt 6 speaker sound system that belongs in a 1980s corolla. but i think the seats are far more supportive/better in the subaru than the mustang. subaru has awd and four doors. which is nice. but its not a a car to take drag racing all the time and any subaru forum will tell you that. you can launch like a hero just be prepared to break stuff. sti's are tough but not indestructible. mustang premium comes standard with a 500 watt shaker system, leather seats, if you add the brembo package you get 19" wheels a strut bar and of course...brembos. mustangs generally have bullet proof drivetrains and can handle twice as much power to the ground as the sti will before you start breaking things. just something to think about, how far you plan on taking the mods. IMO subarus are 14 second cars with 12 second traction. thats how they run 13's. ive driven them both and the mustang just feels a heck of a lot faster 99% of the time. personally, id give my money to ford and drive home in a 5.0, procharge it and run 10's. ![]() and to those who say a subaru sounds like a "really deep fart"....come on. really? i know exhaust sound is all opinion based but again come on... subarus are some of the best sounding imports around. that statement makes you sound like a mustang fanboi and not anybody worth taking advice off of. (sorry for the long post) good luck with the decision

Mustang. I destroyed an STI in my Vanagon once. Well, okay, he destroyed it himself when I told him I'd beat him and he had to prove me wrong. He threw a rod in the process.
For real though, STI's can be mean machines with some work and some money. I think Mustangs can do more for far less. It all depends on what you want to do with the car.
