1990 Ford Ranger Xlt Starting problems.
Hey, how goes? alot better than me i hope, just spent 7 hours under my truck, trying to figure out why the engine wont turn over. i'll be honest up front, i know NOTHING about vehicular mechanics, but, im a shop junkie, i learn quick. I replaced my starter, and my fuel pump no more than 7 months ago, but the truck has been sitting over the winter for about 5 months. All that happens when i crank the key, is a loud tick. I tried arcing the solenoid poles while cranking and still nothing... but realized that the Tick sound was coming from it. I could feel the clank, or what ever it was, threw my screwdriver.
My lights, stereo, fans all work fine, and dont dimm out when i try and roll the engine. I just got my batt tested today as well, and its sitting at an 85% charge. HELP |

you can get a duel exhaust (i wouldn't try looking online, when i was looking at buying a 92 ranger for my first car i couldn't find any duals) this will help free up power, and help with gas milage, if you do look online and don't find any duals then you can always take it to a muffler shop and have them make one for you for about 250-300 dollars, next would be headers and cold air intake, the intake you can find just about anywhere online and you don't have to get K&N, alot of other brands are just as good. if you do find headers (and when i was looking i beleive edlebrock made some long tubes for the v6 so i would look there) they shouldn't cost you more than 400 dollars, in total you should come to about 750-800 dollars spent and about a 25% gain in power along with (and this varies greatly on how you drive) a 2-6 gas milage gain
