98 monte carlo volt light

i was driving home from work tonight, and about halfway home(about a 20 mile drive) the volt light came on, about the same time the antilock light came on and the airbag light. All of the interior lights got alot dimmer, to the point where i could barely see them, luckily the headlights were bright enough to drive. but when i turned the brights on the stereo cut out, still on but no sound. i got home and parked it and tried to restart but nothing, just a slow turn like the battery is dead or close to it. my question is, is it the alternator or battery you think... or something else? i don't want to charge the battery just to find the alternator is bad and get stranded on the way to work, any help will be much appreciatted and reps given to whoever can help. thanks!

Just give it a slow charge for the day. Hopefully that will help it last a bit longer until you get a new battery.

Take the battery in to get it charged and load tested. No sense in replacing a battery that is ok. Also next time that happens try turning off everything that you can spare to get you further with as bright of a light as possible, and the brights just draws more current so don't do that.
