IDEAS FOR JEEP

selling the jeep and thinking of getting a 74 cherokee to replace, the cherokee has a pretty strait body, but it has a ford 360 in it (when amc ran out of their own engines they dropped in other companys back then, this one got a ford, some got chevys buicks hemi's ect...) but i can't find any info on the 360 (power, reliability, parts to rebuild) and i was wondering if any of you could help me out. any info on the tranny would be good too (how much power can it handle)

and also i am looking for ideas on the interior, exterior i don't really care about but i would like to make the interior alot nicer (dash help <replacement>, center consol install <only thinking about this one, might not happen>, and ideas on how to make it look not so old) again i'm just looking for ideas and havn't actually purchased it yet, just feeling out what i can do.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet that's a Mopar 360, not a Ford, I've never heard of AMC ever using Ford motors, just Buicks and Mopars. Maybe you've got an oddball, but I've never heard of a Ford 360, either, and certainly not one that would've been produced around the timeframe that Jeep was made.

That being said, the only issue with that vintage Cherokee is that they're a little wide to make a hardcore trail rig. Other than that, they're awesome. For the interior, I'd just get some decent seats that you don't mind thrashing on (i.e., no leather), maybe some of those Kragen buckets that go for ~$100 per. Comfy seats go a long way, especially when combined with a good steering wheel and shifter.

With the dash and all, I'd make it functional over pretty - it's a 4x4 after all, pretty is for posers who's rigs never see dirt.

Drop a Chebby 350 in that beeotch and add a TH350 trans. Sheetmetal dash and a set of ABS fixed-back race seats. RCI 5pt harness and a 6" lift w/ 38" Thornbird boggers!!

Ewww! Just, eww, man. I'd rather build that Mopar than drop a 350/350 in it...

Oh - and so you know, there was an AMC 360 that was *really* common. It's the little brother to the AMC 401.

Sorry, I don't doubt your engine identification prowess, I'm just having a hard time with the concept of a Ford 360!

please explain what "Fuck" means.

I don't think that you fully understand the meaning or it.

or for that matter that "Fuck" isn't even a word to begin with.
it's an acronym.

are you seriously some 12 year old little bitch?

you do know that a Mod can tract your IP address.. if you even know what that is.

it's really not that hard to do.

come on and tell us why you like talking shit.
is it for some sort of rise?
is it because you have a small penis that will undoubtedly never get touched?
are you a former member that is pissed off that you got banned?

you contradicted yourself in your posts already.
first you said you like hondas and then you said you don't.

A.D.D much?

I have fun playing with little shits like you.
it really brightens up my day to see all the replies that you can muster up
to people on the boards. You do know this is all in vain right?

your posts will all be deleted anyway so all you did today is sit here with one hand on the key board and the other on your mini Dick .

your a real fucking winner!

i just looked at the jeep again today, in better light, it has cancer that i don't want to deal with. but i was thinking that a old vw bug might be cool, espesialy if i were to chop the top, put one of those old ford simulation hoods on it, and drop a old porshe 911 flat six in it, then i could get some serious power out.

I use to have a 79 J30 with the same motor, they were mopar, with a motorcraft carb and delco alt. Yes they are wide. I used to rub trees with the rear axles all the time. I guess I needed bigger tires.
