85 f150 trans

ok im thinking about taking my 87's 5.0 heart out and putting it in my 85 f150.. i was wondering if i did that would the stock trans from the truck be geared ok enough for the highway and such with that kinda swap?

the truck is straight 6 4x4 so im presuming the trans can handle the power from the 5.0?

any input is great. thanks.

Gearing shouldn't be a problem at all... the 302 is a higher rpm motor than the 300 I6. If anything, it'll be better on the freeway.

Curious why you'd do the swap, though. 300 is a stout motor, and perfect for a truck, especially with some Clifford Perfomance parts. And what would happen to the Mustang at that point?
