Honest question from a stang owner
I know this is a Ford board, and I have a sixxer mustang myself. But I'm eyeing another car, a Dodge Stealth ES. What kind of speed do these produce stock? I know they're not the RT or whatever but are they in line or better than a sixxer? And if I put dual exhaust on one would it help like it does our cars here?

Its faster then your 95 v6 but still slow.
The twin turbo stealth/3000GT are rather unreliable from what I heard. |

I would shy away from Stealth/3000GT. They turn into money pits real quick...

Hmm I have heard that as well, and yes I know they're heavy and rather slow, but my 95 does have dual exhaust on it and some stuff done, prolly getting a tuner too. I think ill pass on it thanks guys.

my buddy has a 3000gt VR4 and probably has dumped almost $5k into it...mostly to repair broken crap. He had a 3000gt SL (non turbo) before that and i remember that it seemed like every other week there would be something else wrong with the car.

Yes, the Mitsu 3000GT VR4 (AKA GTO) do have many problems. Those cars are just plain bad ass when it comes to performance but lacks the reliability. It almost seems like they focused on the idea of what it should have been built but half-assed it when produced. If you have the money you can get rid of all the problems the VR4 has but again...if you have the money.

Of course he's got an R/T TT and claims he walks Cobras all day with nothing more than an aftermarket intercooler. ![]() But the cars are first and foremost pigs. They're close to 4,000lbs for the AWD versions, down to around 3,600lbs for the FWD, which is still heavier than my 1970 Cutlass that has an iron block 350 in it. Second, they are plagued by problems, which most notably is the timing belt. If you don't replace it every 50k (or even more often) the timing jumps and your motor just became a paperweight. Why they even used such a crummy rubber timing belt is beyond me. Look at the timing chain in the 4.6. It's a big, heavy double roller chain. That's why the Mitsu V6 blows up at 50k and the 4.6 runs out to 300k no problem. Plus, even the turbo version is only putting down 310hp IIRC. That's right, less than an NA Mach 1. The NA version is around 250, about 20hp less than a PI mustang, and 300lbs heavier. So you're starting off with an unreliable, heavy, underpowered car. You can see they can be made to go fast, but anything can do it with enough money. They're kind of a bigger, heavier version of the Eclipse in the sense that they can be decent stock, and can make tons of power with enough money, but they will be one headache after another.
