sc300

So yeah, I was looking for a Mustang for the longest time this summer but either they were too much for me or I just barely missed the ones that I could afford, which got really annoying.

So eventually I came across an add for this sc300. It had a blown headgasket and the engine was torn apart and so wasnt the interior.

I bought it for real cheap from the kid and we trailored it all the way back home 1.5 hours away. Over a few weekends of me going from my college/work to back home 2.5 hours away I eventually finished it about a month ago and now its running amazing.

The only downsize to owning this is that it's not a mustang :/ which really sucks, since I still want one real badly.

I'll try get some more pictures tonight for you guys. And this was when we were picking her up.

Could be worse. You can still have some fun in them.

I've got a friend who's finishing up his 2JZ-GTE swap into an SC-400. Maybe look into that route.

Or hell, if you're real ambitious find yourself a 4.6/5.0 to put in there and really turn some heads.

^ 2jz-gte that would be sweet, might not be a mustang but atleast its still rear wheel drive so it can be some fun.

haha thanks guys. yeah I was looking for a mustang and found a 1995 Red 5.0 for 1200 and had a lot of great mods on it already.. but he sold it the day before I was going to look at it :'(

but yeah, i've been slowly fixing this up. Right now the engine runs almost perfect. Just have to change the fuel filter since it's throwing a Lean condition code which most likely means the filter sucks now.

the interior is a bit of a mess but i'm slowly fixing that too haah. I can't really complain bc I got this car for super cheap.

and as for a 2jz-gTe swap. I am not against that haha. I'd love to turbo it, so I'll probably just go the Na-T route and then put in a five speed since I'm already missing it alot

*Edit* And don't tempt me by telling me to put a 4.6 in it haha, I hate cross swapping to different brands.. but that one may be worth it if its a 4.6 Cobra engine and all.. haha

Somewhat true. I took mine out for a good drive the other day and I forgot how much everything squeaks and rattles. It's not exactly a luxury car.

Of course mine has a very stiff suspension, and hasn't had an easy life.

Aftermarket for stangs is much more plentiful and cheap though.

On the bright side, clean it up, then trade it for a fox body. Who doesn't love foxes?

yeah, Not even from the squeaks and rattles stand point. I drive my mustang and its hella fun dont get me wrong. But the sc300 is just soooooooo much more refined in, steering, braking, interior quality etc.

o yeah and i hit a tree doing 75+ in one when i was younger and walked away with a few scratches and bruises. Im sure id be dead in a mustang.

My sc300 has wayyy stiffer suspension than my mustang and it handles daily driving soooooooooo much better.

I cant stress enough how well toyota made these sc300/400s.... hence the reason they used the chassis to build the 93.5 supras.

sure roasting the tires at 35-45 miles an hour is definetly fun, But all this will be achieved once i turbo my sc3.

I really wanna put my 4r70w behind my sc's 2jz though.... I love the 4r in my stang. also the biggest downfall for the sc is the open differential....... one way is gheyyyyyyyyyyy

o yeah.... and dont trade it for a fox.... you would qualify as a different breed of stupid unless the fox was built and immaculate.

SCs are badass. What you have is a 4th-gen Supra in everything but price. Tons of Mk IV Supra stuff swaps over, and you've already got the NA Supra motor (2JZ-GE).

It is a bit apples to oranges though, comparing a luxury car to an entry level pony car.

And a nice fox was implied. Not one of the many half-assedly thrown together ones that are fairly common. Like the one my PO sold this car for. I'm talking nice condition turbo or supercharged LX notchback, maybe one with a 351 or 408. I saw a black LX notch with a built motor and the on3 turbo kit on it the other day that made me

Thats true, But they resale for around the same range now. Hell i only compare em cause i have both. There is a special place in my heart for sc's and mustangs. My mother has had a 97 sc300 5 speed hard top (rare as fuck)
since 98 or so. And my dad has had a 67 mustang since before i was born. So pretty much you can guess my two favorite cars.

built fox with turbo kit that sounds fuckin scary fast.

Also having my sc300 gives my the opportunity to make my mustang stupid fast while having a reliable daily.

my mustang is as reliable as i think it would be, but i dont think id trust it to go on a 14 straight hour drive like i do my lex

I can kinda see that... the SC/Soarer was really much more akin the MN12 Thunderbird.

I dont know, I just think that an 04 mustang should be a better car in every way than a 93 lexus.... Maybe toyota was just ahead of the times with that design. *shrugs*

The model years make it seem that way, but look at when stuff was actually designed. The '04 Mustang uses a chassis designed in the mid-70s and is powered by an engine that was designed in the late '80s/early 90s. The SC uses a chassis that was desgined in the late-80s/early-90s and is powered by an engine designed in the late 80s. In that sense, the SC is actually a more modern car, despite being 11 years older.

well thats exactly my point, I dont know why ford deemed it acceptable to do that. I mean you figure by 04 they coulda said "hey, these 1993's are outperforming us in ever aspect except straight line maybe we could come up with something new"

I dont know, maybe its just different internal management thought processes but every time i hop in my sc i become slightly dissappointed in my mustang cause its lightyears behind are far as design cues

i just think using a mid 70s chassis all the way up to 2004 is ridiculous

Easy. Because it still sold like hotcakes that way. Ford only invested R&D into the Mustang when it was apparent that not doing so would cost them sales.

ehhh true, I guess as a consumer its hard to view it from the "big business" standpoint.

+1 for japanese engineering.... -1 for ancient american tech
