1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 lifted 9 inches on a set of 35 12.50 15's Pro Comp tires that are 75% tread. Excellent truck inside and out. Has throttle body spacer, cold air intake, power chip, very strong motor. Body is in greaat shape and ready to paint. NO RUST or hasnt been abused in MUD !! What do yall think. this will be my first truck purchase. And i really do not know what kind of things to look at here?

I am buying this truck because i want to be able to put my car up for the winter, and also i have always wanted a truck, and it’s just a practical thing to have.

What kind of things should i check out on this truck when i go to look at it? does the price seem right? I have been in contact with the seller, and it has a 180,000 miles on it, a new trans with about 15,000 miles, and it is all primed as you can tell, with no dents are anything, ready for paint. which i would have it painted right after i get it.

He said the only thing it needs is a driver side front shock. he said it has a lil bounce in it form 40 - 50 mph. also, he said all new wheel bearings put in last month, and the underside is clean as a whistle.

I dont think i like the orange (red) ring around the wheels tho, so i would most likely paint that if i got the truck. It is also a lil to high for me, so i imagine there is a suspension lift, and a body lift in there. which i would just take the body lift off to bring it down a lil bit at the same time as installing new shocks.

Does this seem like a decent purchase? I have talked him down to $3300 so far..

Not to familiar with those trucks, but I know they suck fuel down like there is no tomorrow. And with those tires on there, I wouldn't expect more than 10-12 MPG out of that thing.

i am aware of that. i avg 15 now. im not to worried about the MPG. lol for now anyways.

EDIT: it is betweend this or a Jeep Cherokee. i imagine those dont get much better mpg. and i am really leaning towards the truck for the fact that it is a truck. no one in my family has one. and it is a nice thing to have in the family.

does it have the 5.2 or 5.9. when you look at it smell the trans fluid and check how tight the steering is and normal stuff like that

its a 5.2. and the normal stuff like that is what i am asking. my stang is the first vehcle i actually bought myself. im not nessecarily sure what all to check. and whats the trans fluid supposed to smell like?
