2012 F-150 gets another 2 mpg boost
I was out looking at trucks today still undecided as to what i'm gonna buy next month, and looking at the F-150's again. I saw the 2011 sticker and it said 17city/21hwy then looked at the 2012 next to it 17city/23hwy. As i started to look more all of the 2012 ecoboost F-150's were rated with this higher MPG. I don't know exatcly what Ford did, but i'm willing to bet it was just a simple program re-write like they did with their diesel a few years back. I asked the salesman and he had no clue what I was talking about and insisted the only way to get the 23hwy was to buy the 12 model. I also remember when Ford did the program re-write for the diesel they did it for free on the model year before, It was the same type of thing, one year had less HP and Tq so they just flashed it and it was up to date. Still looking at the 11's and hoping this free flash will be the case, anyone have any info on this?

I'd take the MPG's with a grain of salt.
I have a late 2011 SCREW eco. On the highway I'm seeing 17-17.5 at 74 mph. Thats with no weight to speak of and 3.73 gears. Cruising at 65 puts me around 20 mpg. I traded a 2010 with 32k on the clock that got 18.5-19.0 cruising at 74 mph. Most of my driving is 12 miles into town for food, kids stuff. I get about 16 if I take it easy in my 2011 eco. About the same as my 5.4. I've not yet towed with the eco but I think it will be much better towing than the 5.4 with about the same mpg. I've seen wild mpg claims from 24 to 14 mpg so there could be some variance.

Yea I have seen claims like that in all the trucks I have looked at except the Tacoma. Everyone says they ate at 18-20except no matter what for the 4one door V6. What body style F150 do you have?
