Can you........ (coolant change)

If you drain the coolant out of the radiator can you leave the drain open and start the car for 30 seconds to get the rest of the coolant out of the block through the radiator drain?

This would be done on a 2003 Chevy Silverado and a 2001 Chevy Cavalier with original coolant.

You could put water in it and run it and then drain again.

Its all going to mix up and you will never know. You are going to put some water in anyway.

coolant is supposed to be a 50/50 mix anyway. throw some water in it, run it, flush it again and know that you will never get 100% of it out.

Have a shop power flush it! It's not that expensive. They can flush it several times with water and get ALL the old crap out.
