Remote Keyless Entry Ford Expedition

HELP! I have a question. I have factory electronic/keyless remote (locks only) on a '97 Ford Expedition and all of a sudden it stopped working. I have 2 remote modules and neither work. I've had the batteries checked in both and they're fine. What's my next step before spending hundreds of dollars to have a $20 item diagnosed and replaced? Is there a certain fuse or a circuit breaker I can check? The fuse section of the manual isn't much help, either. Or, where is the remote access sensor located? The more detail you can offer the better. Anybodys help will be greatly appreciated!

HEY

Hey dude, I have a 2001 Expedition myself, this is a common problem actually. The sensor that detects the signal has a fuse, check the fuse. I believe it is under the hood.

Try this, make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered.
Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN about eight times within ten seconds, ending in RUN. If the RAP module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
Press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed.
If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to five minutes after step 2, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the RAP module will lock and unlock all doors one last time to confirm. I think your transmitters just lost the ID tranmitting code.
