anybody know anything about Infiniti J30's?
I have a 97 J30 and I have a trans code. The A/T light flashes I think its 7 times upon start-up and I get "bad output shaft sensor" when I read the codes.... been a little while since I looked into it so I could be off, just going on memory.
Anybody know if this would cause the converter to feel like its locking up at the wrong times, and a lot of times the car leaves in 3rd gear until I use the kickdown do make it downshift. It also will stay stuck in a higher gear while decelerating and then procede to downshift while stopped at a light and cause the car to surge forward sometimes... not good if you stop a little close to the guy infront of you and aren't paying attention, haha. |

It would do exactly that.
It doesn't see itself outputting anything - so it'll go all weird on ya!

Cool thanks... I also just remembered now, that it was doing this before the A/T light was flashing. I'm still going to replace the sensor anyway when I can but I'm just wondering if this will fix this or if I have something else wrong too.
I mean it makes sense to me that this would be the cause, but like I said, there was no code before and it was still doing this for about a year before the code popped up. I have since reset the code but it comes back so its definitely a problem. |

The sensor could of been "freaking out."
Like the MAF sensor that I have on an 1998 Ford Explorer w/ the 4.0 SOHC. You can watch it go up to 14.59 than down to .02 back up to 8.72, ect... but the car will NOT throw a check engine light. (All this @ idle in park) Just some weird crap on cars now-a-days especally with computers involved n' crap.
