My Ford Ranger Gas Gauge
Ok i have a 1990 Ford Ranger STX and my gas gauge doesn't work when the truck is shut off the needle is at the line before E and when i start the truck up the needle goes to E but its not really empty and so when i put gas in my truck the needle never moves up it stays at E when the truck is running so idk when to put gas in it or not. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

more than likely the tank unit is bad.

What twist said, if it was the gauge or wiring I'd think it wouldn't move at all. Probably the sending unit, be best to get one from a junkyard... fuel sending units are pretty expensive new (couple hundred bucks for most vehicles).
